Functional Medicine

Functional Chiropractic Care for the Whole Family

A functional chiropractic clinic is a specialized healthcare facility that focuses on treating the whole person, not just their symptoms. Dr. Michelle Bean’s approach to care uses a variety of techniques and modalities. Such as chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, nutritional counseling, and functional laboratory reporting to help patients achieve optimal health and wellness.

Benefits of Patient-Centered Medicine

The underlying foundation of Functional Medicine is to approach each person as an individual with their own genetics, environment, and lifestyle. No one person is the same and although many of us have similar symptoms (ie: pain, weight gain, diabetes), the way we arrived here may differ and the approach back to health is individualized.

Dr Bean’s approach to your health is personalized, root-cause centered, integrative, and is directed in partnership with each person.

Improved Chronic Disease Management:

By addressing the root causes of chronic diseases, functional medicine can often manage or even reverse conditions such as diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and heart disease more effectively than traditional approaches.

  1. Personalized Treatment Plans: Because treatments are tailored to the individual, patients often experience more effective and efficient care.

  2. Prevention and Wellness: Functional medicine emphasizes preventive care and the promotion of overall wellness, aiming to prevent disease before it starts.

  3. Comprehensive Health Improvement: This approach can lead to improvements in multiple aspects of health, including physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

  4. Patient Empowerment: By involving patients in their own care, functional medicine helps them make informed decisions about their health, leading to better adherence to treatment plans and healthier lifestyle choices.

  5. Reduced Healthcare Costs: Although it may require more upfront investment in terms of time and resources, the focus on prevention and root cause resolution can lead to fewer medical interventions, hospitalizations, and medications in the long term, potentially reducing overall healthcare costs.

Functional Laboratory Report

The reference range in lab results (low, high, normal) is the range of values for a particular test that is considered "normal" for the general population. HOWEVER, do you know that the reference range on your lab report is determined by analyzing the results of a large sample of individuals in a geographic area regardless of health status. It includes upwards of 95% of the population not taking into account whether you are an 85 yr with diabetes or 23 year old triathlete.. And this range differs depending on where you live, so ranges may be different in Santa Cruz, Miami, or Las Vegas for the same test. You are considered “normal” along with 95% of the people in your area that also fall within this range.

Normal Does NOT Equal Wellness

This means that you could potentially be sick, or getting sick but as long as 95% of the population is also getting sick, you are considered normal and will fall within the normal reference range.

We Can See When You Physiology Is Not Working Properly Before You Have A Disease

A Functional Range is a narrower range of values that is considered to be ideal for optimal health outcomes. The range is based on the latest medical research and scientific evidence. Wouldn’t you prefer to know prior to having a full blown illness that you are trending towards illness rather than health? This is what Functional Laboratory Reporting provides.
